mission statement

artransforms.com is a site focused on the human potential for creative knowing--

This site is intended as a forum and a tool dedicated to the belief that art is a natural language for all people, a process for concretizing the spirit within. Art heals the human body, spirit and intellect, and connects people to their own inner knowing. Art transforms.

who we are

This site is being developed by a group of artists whose work focuses on art that transforms--ourselves, those we teach and mentor, the environment, and our communities. We are a loosely structured group of graduates of the Arts and Consciousness MA and MFA programs of JFK University, Berkeley/Orinda CA. As individuals, many of us still work and live in the Bay Area, but many of us are also dispersed in other locations. Our work and play covers a lot of territory: we teach in locations as disparate as colleges, public schools, prisons and hospitals; we heal with art; collaborate on projects together; show and curate art in environments inside and outside, facilitate community art projects, and work with whatever environment we find ourselves in.

We invite interested allies to help us create, add to, and grow this website. The magazine format that is growing will accommodate more artists, articles, features, and listings, and can facilitate community art connections, and create links between artists, and artists in community.

we need
  1. more artists for our gallery, including categories not yet covered, such as performance, dream art, healing arts, and more installation work.
  2. articles and features about artists and community/environmental arts
  3. other useful or interesting websites
  4. resources, grants available for this kind of work

Please send submissions or suggestions to: info@artransforms.com
