I am a carver of, mostly, stone; sculptures ranging in size from palm-size to 5 feet tall.
Carving into this ancient matter reveals an ageless "alphabet of Essence". Through sculpting I explore this abstract yet distinct language; its music, mystery, and messages of the Unified Field. Following the element's natural patterns leads me to the form contained inside a rock, or wood. The resulting sculptures reference the underlying order contained inside creational chaos, and probability waves. They reflect our individual and collective eternal, fluid essence, and light.
Shafrira Menaker-Schreiber has been a professional sculptor since 1981, having her work shown in the U.S., and collected nationally and internationally. Trained as a schoolteacher, she has worked with various constituencies ranging from New York public schools, to hospice, homeless shelters, youth and elder people with physical, mental and/or emotional challenges. Sculpture, practiced since childhood, became her work of choice following, initially, studying with master sculptor Chaim Gross in New York (1971-1975). Also vital was subsequent mentoring with other gifted artists; especially while attending the Corcoran School of Art, Washington D.C. (1980-1984), the Carving Studio in Vermont, and, most recently, earning a Master of Fine Arts from John F. Kennedy University, Orida/Berkeley, CA., in June of 2000.
